Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering & Printing

Do I need to have a specific program to use these files?

Yes the full Adobe Photoshop or Elements program (not the app) is required for all templates. I use clipping masks so that you can actually insert your photos into the design (like putting pictures into a frame) so the files cannot be used with any other program. A free trial of Photoshop CC is available at Adobe.com. Also, instructions are included but I recommend being familiar with Photoshop and the way layers work before purchasing.

How quick is delivery?

All products in the shop are instant download! If you order a Pick Six bundle, your order will be emailed within 24-48 hours or after I receive your choices. Custom design project timelines change based on the size of the project, but typically range from 2-6 weeks.

Can I get a refund if I made a mistake?

Due to the digital nature of the files, refunds can only be made in extreme cases and must be made within 3 days of purchase. Please note that the full Adobe Photoshop or Elements program (not the app) is required for all templates.

I forgot to add in my discount code.

If you forget to enter your code, I'll be happy to refund you the discounted amount if the offer is still valid.

Do you offer a commercial license?

Depending on the final use, I typically can offer a commercial license at the rate of 3x the current template price. Contact me and I'll get you an invoice for the final amount. Please note that even with a commercial license, templates cannot be resold online in digital form (they can be used with drag/drop style online ordering software).

Where should i print?

All cards are pretty standard size so you should be able to print with your local printer or yourself if you have a high quality printer. My absolute favorite online printer is Mpix.com because nearly all card orders ship the next day.

For photographers, I recommend printing online with WHCC.com, Mpixpro.com, Millerslab.com or ProDPI.com

What type of paper should i use for cards?

I personally love the look of premium matte cardstock paper and then UV coating for at least the front side. If possible, 80-130# paper weight is ideal. I also really like the look and feel of linen cardstock paper but it may be a little on the thinner side.

What card sizes do you offer?

All card designs are standard 5x7 flat cards. I do not currently offer folded card templates. However, all files are fully layered and able to be resized down to a 4x6 or other standard size in Photoshop. If you wanted to tweak a design for a folded card, you could use a sizing guide from your printer and add one of my designs to the front.

For Marketing Sets, is the logo included or can i use my own?

Yes the logo shown in the set is included in a separate file or may simply be a basic font used throughout the set which you can use as a logo. You can definitely insert your own logo in place of what's shown. All layers are separate so you can replace or rearrange everything in the design to fit your needs.

Can I choose individual items out of a marketing set?

Yes you can absolutely choose the items you need out of the set. I typically charge $10-15/individual template so if you think you’ll eventually need more items later, it’s always a better deal to get the full set. Let me know which items you’ve decided on and I’ll put together a custom invoice for you.

Why are the forms/contracts made in Photoshop vs. word, pages, or indesign?

Since the majority of my customers are photographers and use Photoshop on a regular basis, I decided to create them in this format. It also gives full design freedom that other programs like Word and Pages may limit. The forms can be saved as a .PDF once your design changes have been made.

Can I use your exact contract wording included in the forms or see it in advance?

This is actually one of the items I’ve decided not to allow customers to preview in advance just because it adds so much value to the actual forms. The wording is meant to be used as a guide and customized for your business, but many customers purchase them simply to have this foundation. I highly recommend checking contract wording with a legal professional.

Can I use the templates for my clients?

Yes absolutely. That's what they were made for. I only ask that they are not used in physical store or in digital form. You must actually be the one making the changes for your client. Commercial licenses are available for extended use (See below).

My file won’t open or I can’t see them.

Check your version of Photoshop - the full Adobe Photoshop or Elements program (not the app) is required for all templates. A free trial of Photoshop CC is available at Adobe.com. Also, instructions are included but I recommend being familiar with Photoshop and the way layers work before purchasing. The files will need to be unzipped so you may need to open them on a computer instead of a phone/mobile device.

I’m getting an error message when i try to open the files

Occasionally errors can happen if the internet connection is interrupted during download or if you accidentally attempt to open them before they are fully downloaded. Try deleting your files and downloading them again.

Usage & Copyright

PHOTOGRAPHERS

Laurie Cosgrove Design products & freebies are licensed just for you – professional photographers – to use with images you have taken and are selling to your clients.  They may also be used by you and your employees (yep, you can share with your team) for your personal use and advertising.

STORE OWNERS

My products and freebies cannot be resold either in template form or in a physical store without a commercial license. You may not use the designs to create products for sale other than for photography clients in the scenario mentioned above. Contact me to purchase a commercial license if you would like to gain permissions for a project, product or service.

GRAPHIC DESIGNERS

As a graphic designer you can use the product or freebie for your clients as long as you personally are customizing the design for them and sending it to print. You cannot alter the design and call it your own or sell the product in an online or physical store. If creating a custom design, please let your client know that you are using a template and it isn’t exclusive to them. That way they won’t run into the same design elsewhere and think you stole it. That would be awkward.

COPYRIGHT

Laurie Cosgrove owns the copyright to all products and freebies. When you purchase a product or download a freebie, you are not purchasing the copyright but a license to use them within set boundaries. For this reason you cannot copy or share purchased products with anyone other than your employees. If you own multiple computers, you are free to copy products onto the second computer as long as you and your company are the sole users of that product.
